At Towerview we believe that “membership matters.” As a member of Towerview, you participate in the life of the church at a level that non-members cannot. You are a part of the decision making process, with a voice that is heard in bi-monthly business meetings. Towerview Baptist Church is not a church where one person, or even a board of directors, makes the policies and charts the course. The most practical and important decisions are made by a vote of church members. You must be a member to be heard and to cast your vote. In addition you must be a member of the church in order to serve within the church. Membership opens the door for you to teach, participate on committees, and lead in ways that non-members cannot.

     Becoming a member is easy. There is nothing complicated or lengthy about the process. Members of Towerview must be whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ. In other words, you must be a Christian to join the church. In addition you must either have been baptized by immersion or be willing to be baptized by immersion. We believe that baptism by immersion is the biblical model and fulfills the desire of God as expressed in Matthew 28:19.

     After meeting those requirements you simply present yourself to one of the pastor’s at the end of a worship service during what we call the “invitation.” This is a time following the pastor’s message when we sing a hymn or a worship chorus and invite those wishing to follow Jesus Christ as Lord, become a member of the church, or perhaps make the church body aware of another spiritual decision they have made, to come forward and meet with one of the pastor’s.

     The pastor will talk with you briefly and help you decide if you are joining Towerview by “letter,” by “statement,” or upon your “profession of faith in Jesus as Lord.” Joining by “letter” simply means that you are currently a member of another church with beliefs and values similar to ours. We will contact your previous church for you and let them know that you are moving your “letter of membership” from their church to ours. Joining by “statement” means that you have been immersed in baptism but are not a member of another church. We will simply receive you as a member based upon your statement that you are a Christian and wish to unite with Towerview Baptist Church. Joining by “profession of faith” means that you are coming to the pastor to state that you wish to become a Christ-follower, be baptized, and join our church.

     Please know that you are welcome at Towerview and, while we encourage all who attend to take the step of membership, we realize that some are not yet ready for that commitment. You are welcome here! Our doors are open to you and we are very grateful to have you within the fellowship of the church body!
